The Press Council, for the purpose of performing its functions under 16(1) of
Levy of Fees under Press Council Act 1978, levy such fees, at such rates from
registered newspapers and news agencies at different rates prescribed having
regard to their circulation vide Gazette Notification vide dated 28/04/2016. On
the basis of circulation of figures received from the Office of Registrar of
Newspapers for India (RNI) the Council raised the demand and sent Demand
Notices/Reminder Demand Notices to publishers through email/by post and
collected Levy of Fees through online mode on PCI website. It makes all entries
in respective individual ledger accounts of publishers for all States and Union
Territories and process for “No Due Certificate” of the publisher after clearing all
dues of their outstanding Levy of Fees. The Secretariat of the Council issued
Legal Demand Notices to all defaulter newspapers/magazine towards their
outstanding when they failed to make payment of Levy of Fees. The Office also
issued Stop Recovery Notices to publishers which make the payment due
intimation to PCI via email (pcibpplevy@gmail.com) and telephone 011-
24366745, 9871188606,9871188617 for settlement their Ledger Account of
Levy of Fees.
